Michigan Recreational Cannabis Prices Drop Nearly 30%

In February 2025, Michigan’s recreational marijuana market experienced a significant price drop, with the average retail cost of an ounce of cannabis flower falling to $65.21—a nearly 30% decrease from $91.94 in February 2024.

This downward trend has raised concerns among industry professionals about the financial viability of cannabis businesses. Robin Schneider, executive director of the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association, noted that growers are struggling to cover cultivation costs, leading to expectations of increased business closures this year.

Overall sales of adult-use marijuana products in Michigan also declined, totaling $241 million in February 2025, down from $247 million in January and $259 million in February 2024. Schneider mentioned that sales typically dip in the early months of the year but anticipates a rebound as events like 4/20 approach.

The continuous price decline has led companies such as PharmaCann and Fluresh to shut down cultivation facilities in Michigan, reflecting the broader challenges faced by the state’s cannabis industry.
